PROFILE

Muniru Shaibu Alidu holds the title of Professional Engineer with Engineering Council of Ghana, with over two decades of experience in the field of electrical and power engineering.


Muniru is a power engineer with the Thermal Generation Department of the Volta River Authority (VRA) in Tema. He previously worked with the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) as an Electrical Engineering Technologist.
Muniru obtained his Secondary School Certificate at the Tamale Senior High School in 1996. He later acquired a Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Accra Technical University (ATU) in 2001. After some years of his carrier, he pursued further studies in his field and obtained a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Master's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Risk Management (MOSHRM) from the Open University, Malaysia (OUM).


Muniru’s 23 years of work experience as an electrical engineering practitioner is combined with voluntary and community service. He has served on various committees of the Ghana Academy of Muslim Professionals (GAMP) since 2002. He has been elected as a General Secretary of GAMP on two occasions. He is the founder and proprietor of Premier Care Academy (PCA), a Montessori school and weekend Islamic School located at New Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region.


Muniru is a member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, Ghana (IET, Gh). He has attended a lot of professional training, seminars, workshops, conferences, and international trainings. In 2017, he attended the SCAAP/ITEC Scholarship Programme on ‘Latest Trends in Thermal Power Generation' at the Central Institute of Rural Electrification (CIRE), Hyderabad-India. In 2023, he attended a professional training programme in Power Engineering with CPI Training in collaboration with Saskatchewan Power Corporation, Canada. He is married with four children.
